Project Manager Medium Scope

Position Summary (Purpose of job):
The purpose of the Project Manager is to ensure predictable, consistent, and successful project delivery. The Project Manager will plan, coordinate, and monitor medium sized scope and budget projects. The Project Manager will partner with key business stakeholders to ensure a successful start-up and completion of a project. Projects typically impact a single business unit or functional area. The Project Manager is expected to work under moderate supervision with oversight provided by the Manager / Director – Project Management.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Ensure predictable, consistent and successful project delivery
• Provide a complete view of the overall project to the organization and all stakeholders
• Exhibit proactive behavior by engaging in project planning activities, including but not limited to: defining the overall scope of the project; creating and maintaining a consolidated timeline highlighting the major milestones and associated dates for project activities; identifying and communication project dependencies and impacts; putting mechanisms in place to set expectations and ensure on-going control of the project (e.g. kick off meeting, overall project management approach, risk management, issues management, change control, etc.)
• Define project governance outlining roles and responsibilities and decision rights
• Ensure success criteria defined upfront to promote alignment and actively manage to expected project outcomes
• Keep all stakeholders (internal & external) engaged in the project, aligned on expected outcomes and informed about what is occurring throughout the project
• Proactively communicate the project’s progress on an on-going basis, ensuring transparency throughout project lifecycle.
• Provide leadership and key stakeholders with the information and venues to make effective, timely decisions
• Oversee the development, maintenance or enhancement of systems and programs to ensure they are according to client specifications
• Collaborate with other IT managers to plan for needed resources and communicate updates to the centralized resource utilization plan as project conditions change

Minimum Job Qualifications:
• Previous experience leading a data center migration and consolidation projects.
• Creating data center migration/consolidation strategies and execution plans
• Able to demonstrate a high level of fluency / understanding of data center technologies and terminology
• Ability to create, adapt, and "hybridize" data center migration processes
• Bachelor degree in business or technology
• Minimum of 3 years project management experience
• Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in project management processes and methodologies (PMBOK)
• Strong technical aptitude and computer proficiency, including MS Office Suite and MS Project
• Able to demonstrate basic understanding of the deployed technologies across the enterprise and of multiple system platforms (Mainframe, Tandem, UNIX, Windows)
• Experience in driving medium size projects

Preferred Qualifications:
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Experience overseeing multi-function project teams with at least 10-15 team members including Developers, Business Analysts, and QA Personnel
• Experience in banking, financial services, and/or software industries

o Ability to practically apply project methodologies and practices to execute project, manage changes, and facilitate achievement of project deliverables on-time, within budget and with quality
